Abstract: Electrical vehicles powered by hydrogen fuel cells become a potential alternative to conventional vehicles. The polymer electrolyte membrane (PEM) are typical fuel cells used in fuel cell vehicle (FCV). The global efficiency of a PEM fuel cell stack is greatly impacted by the use of a motorized compressor for the air supply system. The motor-compressor set-up may consume up to 19 % of the energy supplied by the PEM fuel cell stack. The most critical issue is to develop a compact, efficient, reliable, and mature electrically-driven turbocharger. A key element of this system is a high speed electric motor. This paper covers a conception and modeling results of high-speed permanent magnet motor for electrical driven turbocharger. Also highlighting the advantages which has that combined system. The papers has two parts: presentation of the motor conception used in modern vehicles fuel cell systems, modeling and simulation results using field model elaborated in Flux2D software. Finally the article presents the purpose of using high-speed electrical motor as a drive for turbocharger.
