In recent years, the number of polymer materials used in the food packaging market was growing extremely fast. This contributed to depletion of non-renewable resources and more intense degradation of the environment due to resistant polymer. Therefore, such a dramatic situation has forced researchers to look for biodegradable materials, decomposable under action of microorganism. Currently, only a small number of researches examine degradation of such polymer materials in seawater environment, which considerably differs from the process undertaken on the land (i.e. compost in the soil environment). However, pollution of seas and oceans with foil bags became a global raising problem. Moreover, new biodegradable/compostable/degradable polymer materials do not decay in water medium. The aim of this paper is to present the research on technological aspects of manufacturing new degradable in seawater polymers (with potential use in packaging market). Our research group decided to overwork a polymer composition that allows to obtain materials degradable in water and land environment. The particular compositions consider using thermoplastic and synthetic polymers with some additives helping in processing of polymer components. From the studies we expect to gather the knowledge about processing parameters necessary to obtain final product.
