Direction of the main movements that are made in the European cities determines not only structural but also an esthetic changes. Paper follows the topic of visual diversity of post industrial waterfront cities and it’s relation to the local identity and cultural changes that are provided. Reshaping of the cities continuously proceed. Are those changes related with industrial shipyard districts only economical and spatial or also esthetic and cultural? Forced mainly by economics movements, indicates long time changes, at the developed and redeveloped areas. Taking under consideration esthetic side of the district evolution this article tries to find a connection between local identity, social aspect of everyday life in postindustrial areas and urban design based on close water relation.
