  • Data Acquisition in a Manoeuver Auto-negotiation System
    • Joanna Szłapczyńska
2015 Pełny tekst TransNav - The International Journal on Marine Navigation and Safety of Sea Transportation

Typical approach to collision avoidance systems with artificial intelligence support is that such systems assume a central communication and management point (such as e.g. VTS station), usually located on shore. This approach is, however, not applicable in case of an open water encounter. Thus, recently a new approach towards collision avoidance has been proposed, assuming that all ships in the encounter, either restricted or open water, communicate with each other and negotiate their maneuvers, without involving any outer management or communication center. Usually the negotiation process is driven by the collision avoidance software and called auto-negotiation. This paper elaborates on data acquisition problem in case of the maneuver auto-negotiation. It focuses on ships' initialization in the system and data gathering.

We developed a simple and efficient method for the synthesis of functionalized unsymmetrical disulfanes under mild conditions in good yields. The designed method is based on the reaction of bis(5,5- dimethyl-2-thioxo-1,3,2-dioxaphosphorinan-2-yl)disulfane with thiols in the presence of 2,3-dichloro-5,6-dicyanobenzoquinone (DDQ). The developedmethod allows the preparation of unsymmetrical disulfanes bearing additional hydroxy, carboxy, or amino functionalities.

  • Dead-Time Effect Compensation Based on Additional Phase Current Measurements
    • Arkadiusz Lewicki
2015 Pełny tekst IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON INDUSTRIAL ELECTRONICS

This paper proposes a new method of dead-time effect compensation. The proposed solution is based on additional phase current measurements realized by analog-to-digital converters. These measurements are carried out at the time instants specified by a pulsewidth-modulation (PWM) strategy. This makes it possible to estimate inverter currents at the commutation instants and, finally, to estimate the voltage error caused by dead time. This voltage error is compensated during the next switching period by modification of a reference voltage. The proposed solution can be used to compensate the voltage error in multilevel multiphase voltage source inverters. The experimental research studies were carried out on three-phase two-level and three-level neutral-point-clamped inverters supplying 55- and 160-kW motors, respectively. The results of the experimental investigations are presented in this paper

2015 Przegląd Telekomunikacyjny + Wiadomości Telekomunikacyjne

Vessel monitoring systems (VMS) play a very important role in safety navigation. In most cases, their structure is distributed and they are based on two data sources, namely Automatic Identification System (AIS) and Automatic Radar Plotting Aids (ARPA). Such approach results in several objects identification and position data duplication problems, which need to be solved in order to ensure the correct performance of a given VMS. The problems' genesis and the concept of solution are described in the paper. Examples of decisions made on the basis of proposed algorithms are also presented.

  • Degradacja sztywności słupów budynku na skutek działania pionowego obciążenia uderzeniowego w czasie wstrząsów sejsmicznych
    • Wojciech Migda
    • Robert Jankowski
    2015

  • Degradation of electrical performance of a crystalline photovoltaic module due to dust deposition in northern Poland
    • Ewa Klugmann-Radziemska
    2015 Pełny tekst RENEWABLE ENERGY

The reduction in power output caused by the accumulation of dust on the photovoltaic module surface is an important problem and should receive much more attention in the literature. This study was an evaluation of the performance degradation of crystalline photovoltaic modules due to natural and simulated dust deposition. Dust is created from powdered grains of sand and particles of different bodies. Dust originates from different sources, e.g. from the soil and volcanic eruptions. Dust in the air is an aerosol, and in high concentrations can cause climate change. Deposition of airborne dust on photovoltaic modules may decrease the transmittance of solar cell glazing and cause a significant degradation in the solar conversion efficiency of photovoltaic modules. Dust deposition is closely related to the tilt angle of the module, the exposure period, site climate conditions, wind movement and dust properties. In this article, a brief review of the energy yield losses caused by dust deposition on photovoltaic modules and the results of experimental research conducted in Poland are presented. Dust samples were collected after a few years of natural and artificial dust deposition. The reduction in efficiency had a linear relationship with the dust deposition density.

    2015 EUROPEAN PHYSICAL JOURNAL D

Organic polymer thin films have been deposited on Si(100) and aluminum coated glass substrates by a dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) operated at medium pressure using different C2Hm/N2 (m = 2, 4, 6) gas mixtures. The deposited films were characterized by various spectroscopic techniques. Fourier transform infrared reflection absorption spectroscopy (FT-IRRAS) revealed the chemical functional groups present in the films. The surface chemical compositions have been derived from X-ray photo electron spectroscopy (XPS). FT-IRRAS and XPS show the presence of sp, sp2 and sp3 bonds of carbon and nitrogen. Various functional groups such as NH containing, saturated and unsaturated alkyl groups have been identified. Thin films obtained from C2H2/N2 and C2H4/N2 gas mixtures revealed a higher N/C ratio when compared to thin films obtained from C2H6/N2. Thickness, refractive index and extinction coefficient were evaluated by spectroscopic ellipsometry (SE). Significant differences between the films obtained with different gas mixtures are observed.

    2015

: Thin ceramic films play an important role in modern technology. One of the more utilized methods of deposition of ceramic films is spin coating. In this paper we investigate optimal deposition parameters for LaNi0.6Fe0.4O3−δ thin layers spin coated from a polymeric precursor. The quality of the obtained layers is checked using scanning electron microscopy. Additionally, we investigate the growth of grains in ceramic films annealed at different temperatures. Sample morphology is determined by atomic force microscopy. We also compare LaNi0.6Fe0.4O3−δ grain growth with La0.6Sr0.4Co0.2Fe0.8O3−δ. Moreover, a review of basic coating methods is presented.

    • Paweł Dymarski
    • Jędrzej Żywicki
2015 Pełny tekst Polish Maritime Research

The support structure being the object of the analysis presented in the article is Tripod. According to the adopted assumptions, it is a foundation gravitationally set in the water region of 60 m in depth, not fixed to the seabed, which can be used for installing a 7MW wind turbine. Due to the lack of substantial information on designing and strength calculations of such types of structures in the world literature, authors have made an attempt to solve this problem within the framework of the abovementioned project. In the performed calculations all basic loads acting on the structure were taken into account, including: the self mass of the structure, the masses of the ballast, the tower and the turbine, as well as hydrostatic forces, and aero- and hydrodynamic forces acting on the entire object in extreme operating conditions.
