    • Ubaidillah Zuhdi
2017 Pełny tekst Journal of Physics : Conference Series

The purpose of the current study is to extend the previous study which analyzes the industrial sectors ranks of specific countries. More specifically, the study aims to conduct a further analysis regarding the ranks by using the new data as well as new analysis periods. The study focuses on the cases of Indonesia and Japan. In this study, the analysis period of the Indonesian case is 2010 while for the case of Japan is 2011. Using the previous study as a reference, the study employs the Input-Output (IO) approach as an analysis device. As with the previous study, the results of this study show that the orders of the ranks depend on the methods used. Nevertheless, from the results, one can argue that the electricity and gas industry was a leading sector in the Indonesian economy in 2010. On the other hand, for the case of Japan, the competitive sector in the Japanese economy in 2011 was the manufacturing industry. In terms of the leading sectors, the current study is different from the previous one.

  • The reduction of vibrations in circular sawing machines
    • Kazimierz Orłowski
    • Przemysław Dudek
2017 Annals of WULS, Forestry and Wood Technology

The presented in this paper the main objectives of the research were to explore vibrations signals of the main spindle system, the machine tool body and a circular saw to extract informative features for assessment of the designs of the panel saw Fx3 and its follower Fx550.Even though the main spindle of the new table sliding saw Fx550 has its rotational speeds larger about 20% in comparison to the Fx3, peak values of the vibrational velocities in the measurement points were in the recommended range of the peak velocities values for the machine tools. Moreover, the machine tool Fx550 has been a source of the noise on the idling at the level lower about 5 dB in comparison to the panel saw Fx3.Therefore, if the noise is decreased simultaneously vibrations are at lower level.

  • The Relational Benefits and the Quality of Services in Tourism
    • Juan Jose Blazquez-Resino
    • Edyta Gołąb-Andrzejak
    2017 Pełny tekst Handel Wewnętrzny

In a very competitive environment, it is highly important to identify the indicators that exert a major influence on customer satisfaction and loyalty. Based on the current relationship marketing concept of relational benefits (Gwinner, Gremler, Bitner, 1998; Hennig-Thurau, Gwinner, Gremler, 2002) and destination quality (Blazquez-Resino, Molina, Esteban-Talaya, 2015), a conceptual model was built. The present paper aims to analyse empirically the model that reflects three different types of relational benefits perceived by tourists as well as the benefits obtained by the tourist destination in term of satisfaction and loyalty. This study tries to identify whether relational benefits have a more important effect on satisfaction and loyalty than quality. As a result, we observe the role of relational benefits as an antecedent of customer satisfaction and the effect of the latter on tourist loyalty.

  • The Relationship between Gene Activity and Nitrous Oxide Production during Nitrification in Activated Sludge Systems
    • Przemysław Kowal
    • Jacek Mąkinia
    2017

Nitrite is an important factor which inhibits the first stage of the nitrification, the effect is stronger with the decrease of the DO concentrations. NO2- presence at concentration above 15 mg N – NO2 in the aeration tanks stimulates N2O production regardless of the DO concentration. The significant nirS gene induction, observed especially during the experiments with the nitrite addition indicates that N2O production is basically supported by heterotrophic denitrification. The obtained results revealed that the gene activity control may be a useful tool for recognizing the different biochemical pathways of N2O production and developing strategies for N2O control in bioreactors.

    2017 TRAC-TRENDS IN ANALYTICAL CHEMISTRY

The term “Anthropocene” refers to not yet formalized epoch of geologic time during which geologic processes have been dominated by the human impact. This impact takes on many forms. Biological, physical and chemical changes to the Earth System caused by anthropogenic activity are recorded in natural archives either as new fossil assemblages (neobiota), anthropogenic deposits or a wide variety of pollutants emitted to the environment. With the current efforts to formalize the Anthropocene Epoch, a new trend in analytical chemistry has emerged. The use of different dating techniques combined with the study of chemical signals recorded in different natural archives, such as ice cores, marine and freshwater sediments, corals, tree rings, stalactites, allows us to reconstruct historic emission trends. This paper presents characteristics of specific samples to be analyzed and the pertinent analytical techniques to be applied for the purpose of gaining the knowledge required for formalizing the Anthropocene Epoch.

    2017

Nearly 10% of all upper limb amputations concern the whole arm. It affects the mobility and reduces the productivity of such a person. These two factors can be restored by using prosthetics. However, the complexity of human arm makes restoring its basic functions quite difficult. When the osseointegration and/or targeted muscle reinnervation (TMR) are not possible, different modalities can be used to control the prosthesis. In this paper the usability of electromyography (EMG) signals for such a control is evaluated. Method: first, the types of operations performed by the prosthetic arm that could be handled by EMG module were defined. The raw EMG signal, corresponding to the predefined gesture, was acquired from the surface of trapezius muscle. The pattern recognition neural network was trained to classify gestures based on recorded RAW data. Results: The neural network was trained using 56 signals corresponding to performed gestures. Optimal performance was achieved for 29 training cycles. The network was tested using data set of 56 gestures. The designed network was tested on gestures recorded from 10 volunteers. The gestures were correctly classified with nearly 84% accuracy. Conclusions: The EMG analysis is a reliable modality when it comes to hybrid interfaces for control over prosthetic arm.

  • The Russian Federation in European Union Programmes
    • Krystyna Gomółka
2017 Pełny tekst Annales Universitatis Mariae-Curie Skłodowska, sectio K – Politologia

Since the early 1990s, the European Union has been supporting socio-economic transformations in the former Soviet Union states, including the Russian Federation. Initially, this assistance was provided in the framework of the TACIS Programme, offering long-term, non-repayable aid. In 1991–2006 Russia received EUR 2.7bn for the restructuring of the state enterprise sector, establishment of private companies, state administration reform, telecommunications, nuclear safety and security and environmental protection. Despite severe criticism directed at the implemented programme, emphasising its unclear objectives, lack of awareness of the conditions in which the projects were executed, prolonged completion periods for some projects and lack of evaluation, the European Union continued its financial assistance to Russia since 2007 as part of the European Neighbourhood and Partnership Instrument. The funds available for the programme were earmarked to support political, economic and social reforms, and regional and local development through programmes implemented in two time perspectives: 2007–2013 and 2014–2020. Evaluation of the programmes implemented in 2007–2013 revealed numerous shortcomings in project execution. For example, projects implemented as part of the Arctic Circle-Russia Programme were criticised for weak objectives and only partial completion of some undertakings. Another programme – Karelia–Russia failed to create a joint vision of the region and develop joint investment plans. The issues indicated as barriers to cooperation between the Russian Federation and Finland included: complicated administrative procedures in Russia and poor command of the English language on the Russian side. No evaluation report was prepared on completion of the South-East Finland–Russia Programme and Lithuania–Poland–Russia Programme. Furthermore, the objectives of the Estonia–Latvia–Russia Programme were not accomplished. Nevertheless, the European Union decided to continue the assistance to the Russian Federation in 2014–2020 as part of the following programmes: Arctic Circle–Russia, Karelia–Russia and South-East Finland–Russia and to launch four new programmes: Estonia–Russia, Latvia–Russia, Poland–Russia and Lithuania–Russia.

  • The safety issue of roadside advertising – comparison of polish and abu dhabi regulations
    • Tomasz Mackun
    • Joanna Żukowska
2017 Pełny tekst MATEC Web of Conferences

In Poland a large number of advertisements are located by the roadside. These ads do not support road traffic management and unlike the road marking system are not subject to any regulations. The advertiser’s goal is to communicate a message to as many recipients as possible. Drivers with different individual abilities, such as attention focusing, eye accommodation, speed of information processing, can be distracted, blinded or confused by the content and form of the advertising. There are elements of the road network, such as intersections, pedestrian crossings, road junctions etc. where the driver must assess the situation on the road, predict the behaviour of other users, make decisions and finally complete a manoeuvre. It all happens in a limited span of time when actions should be taken calmly with full attention. It is obvious that the attention of drivers, especially in those zones, should be focused on the task of driving. In this article, the authors present a perspective on selected national laws, and also quote Abu Dhabi’s advertising placement manual as a good example of how to manage roadside advertising.

We study several problems of clearing subgraphs by mobile agents in digraphs. The agents can move only along directed walks of a digraph and, depending on the variant, their initial positions may be pre-specified. In general, for a given subset~$\cS$ of vertices of a digraph $D$ and a positive integer $k$, the objective is to determine whether there is a subgraph $H=(\cV_H,\cA_H)$ of $D$ such that (a) $\cS \subseteq \cV_H$, (b) $H$ is the union of $k$ directed walks in $D$, and (c) the underlying graph of $H$ includes a Steiner tree for~$\cS$. We provide several results on parameterized complexity and hardness of the problems.

The structure of demand for urban transport services, determined by the share of passengers entitled to free and reduced fares, is an important factor influencing its economic condition. The aim of this article is to present the results of research into the structure of demand for urban transport as well as its economic consequences. The article begins by considering the nature of the determinants and consequences of the public functionality of urban transport, before going on to discuss the methodology of the structure of demand study within these services. This provides the background for analysis of the results of the aforementioned study in chosen cities and allows the economic consequences to be determined. The annual deficit of urban transport was compared with a hypothetical full reimbursement of revenue lost due to free and reduced fares. The article ends with a presentation of its basic conclusions.

  • THE STUDY OF WATER POLLUTION OF THE LOWER VISTULA RIVER BY PLASTIC PARTICLES
    • Piotr Zima
    • Paweł Wielgat

    2017

Since the beginning of widespread use of plastic its consumption and production has been constantly increasing. As a result of human activity part of waste ends up in our environment and is deposited in each of the elements of the biosphere. These impurities can be in the form of large elements, small particles fragmented to macroscopic level (pellets, facial scrub grains) and the microparticles visible under a microscope. Particularly harmful for the environment are microplastic particles, which can be deposited in living organisms. Impurities get into surface waters, and then through rivers into the seas and oceans, as the final reservoir. Currently greater attention is paid to rivers. In rivers plastic can undergo further fragmentation and be transported along with water and bed sediment. The article describes the trial attempt to determine the content of plastic in the water of the lower Vistula- the largest river flowing into the Baltic Sea. The material extraction for the research was done in the Tczew gauge profile (Km 33+080). During this process the hydrometric measurements and the velocity distribution and flow rate using ADCP device was completed. For sampling were used plankton nets - the first with the mesh size of 0.5 mm and the inlet dimensions of 0.2x0.4 m and second with the 0.2 mm and 0.2x0.3 m. 0.5 mm nets were placed in the mainstream (velocity of approx. 1m/s) at the surface and at a depth of 0.5 m. 0.2 mm net was put at the bottom and left for sampling. After filtration of approx. 100 m3 of water, nets with samples were preserved and transported to the laboratory. The resulting catch at the surface and at a depth of 0.5 m contained plant parts and wood fragments, and the mesh placed at the bottom caught sand, wood fragments and shells. Then the samples were dried at room temperature. In order to reduce the organic matter, the dry samples were placed in a 20% solution of H2O2 and then in a 20% solution of HCl. The acquired portion of bed sediment (705g dry weight) after etching was subjected to flotation in a 40% ZnCl2 solution. After the sand sedimentation, the solution was filtered. The samples were examined microscopically. During the investigation, some plastic particles were found plastic (size of 1-2 mm or more). While examining under a microscope at 60 times magnification were noticed single plastic fibers. The study helped to identify the presence of forms of plastic on the macroscopic and microscopic level.

  • The Taxonomy Spatial Measure of Development in the Standard of Living Analysis
    • Marta Kuc-Czarnecka
2017 Pełny tekst Acta Universitatis Lodziensis Folia Oeconomica

Incorporation of spatial relationships in the construction of taxonomy measure of development is gaining popularity in Polish literature. However, there is no one common idea concerning how the spatial relationship should be taken into account when creating a synthetic variable nor, indeed, where the spatial weight matrix should be placed. It seems that the inclusion of spatial relationships is more important in smaller regions’ analysis, as they are more affected by the situation in the neighbourhood. This explains why, in this research, rankings of the standard of living in Nordic regions were constructed on the basis of proposals presented by Antczak, Pietrzak and Sobolewski, Migała‑Warchoł and Mentel. The aim of this study is to identify the advantages and disadvantages of above‑mentioned approaches and to compare the compliance of results obtained from them.
