Iron doped strontium titanates SrTi1-xFexO3-δ are perovskites of versatile properties. They can be used in solid oxide fuel cells or high temperature oxygen sensors. Their reactivity with electrolyte materials, cathode buffer layer materials, other cathode materials or current collector layers has not been fully tested. In this study we use X-ray diffraction to check SrTi0.65Fe0.35O3-δ compatibility with Ce0.8Gd0.2O2-δ (used as electrolyte or cathode-YSZ electrolyte buffer layer), LaNi0.6Fe0.4O3-δ (typical current collector) and La0.6Sr0.4Co0.2Fe0.8O3-δ (typical cathode). It is shown that SrTi0.65Fe0.35O3-δ reactivity with Ce0.8Gd0.2O2-δ and La0.6Sr0.4Co0.2Fe0.8O3-δ is negligible up to 1400°C, while reaction with LaNi0.6Fe0.4O3-δ occurs between 1000°C and 1200°C leading to the formation of NiO, SrLaFaO4 and possibly La4Ni3O10.

Bar-codes and QR-codes (Quick Response ) are often used in healthcare. In this paper an application of QR-codes to exchange of laboratory results is presented. The secure data exchange is proposed between a laboratory and a patient and between a patient and Electronic Health Records. Advanced Encryption Standard was used to provide security of data encapsulated within a QR-code. The experimental setup, named labSeq is described. Additionally, a mobile application which enables decoding and storage of the enciphered information is presented. This work is also a preliminary research in supplying electronic glasses device, eGlasses, a functionality to process data from graphical patterns. In this paper a mobile phone is used as a simulator of electronic glasses. The exchange of data between the mobile application and Electronic Health Records is based on Health Level 7 standards or using JavaScript Object Notation. This enables fast integration of data between a patient’s device and the information system used by a healthcare professional.

Films based on fish gelatin, chitosan and blend of fish gelatin and chitosan before and after cross-linking with EDC have been characterized by FT-IR spectroscopy. The FT-IR spectrum of fish gelatin film showed the characteristic amide I, amide II and amide III bands, and the FT-IR spectrum of chitosan film confirmed that the polymer was only a partially deacetylated product, and included CH3-C=O and NH2 groups, the latter both in their free –NH2 and protonated –NH3+ form. Analysis of FT-IR spectra of twocomponent, fish gelatin–chitosan film revealed the formation not only of hydrogen bonds within and between chains of polymers, but also of electrostatic interactions between –COO- of gelatin and –NH3+ of chitosan. Modification with EDC provided cross-linking of composites of the film. New iso-peptide bonds formed between activated carboxylic acid groups of glutamic or aspartic acid residue of gelatin and amine groups of gelatin or/and chitosan.

  • Interactive Prototypes in Teaching User-Centred Design and Business Process Modelling
    • Marcin Sikorski
    2014

This publication describes experiences gathered during the use of interactive prototyping in two areas: design of user interfaces for a touch screen information kiosk and interactive prototyping of business processes. Prototyping is promoted here as a technique useful for both visualizing design concepts and for stimulating communication within relevant teams. Developing interactive prototypes of use interfaces is discussed here as a technique with several major benefits: it useful for visualizing design concepts, for usability testing and also for identifying necessary improvements of a specific system. It offers students' an excellent opportunity to observe their own design "in action", what gives instant feedback on user-perceived quality of the system, but first of all it stimulates customer-centred thinking being an essential skill of a prospective IT project manager. Interactive prototyping of business processes was evaluated in a small scale experiment with the use of a Metasonic Touch table, which allows for the teamwork in analysis and modelling. Outcomes of this experiment were twofold: advantages point out collaborative learning, knowledge transfer among participants, converting tacit knowledge into explicit knowledge, sharing knowledge and deeper understanding the process. In turn, disadvantages show that the touch screen device itself draws too much attention from novice users, thus being suitable rather for experienced business analysts than as educational tool for university students.

2014 Pełny tekst DISCRETE APPLIED MATHEMATICS

In this paper we study the problem of interval incidence coloring of bipartite graphs. We show the upper bound for interval incidence coloring number (χii) for bipartite graphs χii≤2Δ, and we prove that χii=2Δ holds for regular bipartite graphs. We solve this problem for subcubic bipartite graphs, i.e. we fully characterize the subcubic graphs that admit 4, 5 or 6 coloring, and we construct a linear time exact algorithm for subcubic bipartite graphs. We also study the problem for bipartite graphs with Δ=4 and we show that 5-coloring is easy and 6-coloring is hard (NP-complete). Moreover, we construct an O(nΔ^3.5logΔ) time optimal algorithm for trees.

  • Intrinsic asymmetry with respect to adversary: a new feature of Bell inequalities

2014 Journal of Physics A-Mathematical and Theoretical

It is known that the local bound of a Bell inequality is sensitive to the knowledge of the external observer about the settings statistics. Here we ask how that sensitivity depends on the structure of that knowledge. It turns out that in some cases it may happen that the local bound is much more sensitive to the adversaryʼs knowledge about the settings of one party than the other. Remarkably, there are Bell inequalities which are highly asymmetric with respect to the adversaryʼs knowledge about local settings. This property may be viewed as a hidden intrinsic asymmetry of Bell inequalities. Potential implications of the revealed asymmetry effect are also discussed.

  • INVESTIGATION OF ACIDIC SOLUTIONS BY POTENTIOMETRIC TASTE SENSOR WITH ALL SOLID STATE ELECTRODES
    • Elwira Brodnicka

    2014

Potentiometric taste sensors with electrodes containing lipophilic compound / polymer membranes were already used to distinguish commercial liquid products. In this paper a new potentiometric taste sensor consisting of six All Solid State Electrodes (ASSEs) has been presented. Each of the membrane contains a selected lipophilic compound. The set-up consists of a reference electrode and six ASSEs. The inner layer made of a conducting polymer PEDOT/PSS was put on carbon disc. The outer layer was a polyvinyl chloride membrane containing appropriate lipophilic compound, and plasticizer. Liphophilic compounds used in membrane electrodes were the following: hexadecyltrimethyloammonium bromide, hexadecyl amine, palmitic acid, lauric acid, decanoic acid and cholesterol. The responses of ASSEs to hydrochloric and tartaric acid solutions in the concentration range of 10-5-10-2M have been presented. The electrodes with negatively charged membraneswere more sensitive to the changes of acid concentration in comparison to other electrodes.Straight line relationship of E = f(C) for hydrochloric acid suggests that such electrode may be used for analytical application. The stability of lipophilic compound- membrane electrodes proposed in this six - channel taste sensor is not sufficient enoughand should be improved.

  • INVESTIGATION OF BOTTOM SEDIMENT STRATIFICATION

    2014 Pełny tekst HYDROACOUSTICS

The main goal of this paper is to find a method to assess remotely the type of sediments on the basis of the signal received using the parametric echosounder. The images of the sea bottom sediments taken by a parametric echosounder show the fine structure of the upper layer of the bottom sediments. The depth of penetration depends on the type of sediment, in fact on the attenuation of acoustic wave. In the paper the method of distinguishing the sediment layer basing on interpretation the received bottom signal is proposed. The knowledge on acoustic parameters of different type of sediments obtained in laboratory condition or using the literature data, allows to predict the composition of upper layer of the bottom. The considerations are illustrated by the results recorded from the bottom of the Gulf of Gdansk.

  • Investigation of buckling resistance of columns using non-linear static and dynamic analysis
    • Łukasz Żmuda-Trzebiatowski
    • Piotr Iwicki
    2014

The aim of this paper is to investigate the stability process in an axially compressed column using a static and dynamic finite element analysis by taking both the geometric and material non-linearity into account. The perfect column and column with geometric imperfections were analysed. The linear buckling analyses were used to obtain the lowest buckling load and shapes of buckled forms that were taken into account as initial geometric imperfections. The differences between the results of static and dynamic analyses were discussed. The advantages of a dynamic approach were outlined. Attention was paid to the choice of the finite element mesh refinement, velocity of load application in the dynamic analysis and imperfections amplitude.

2014 Pełny tekst Journal of Polish CIMEEAC

Paper presents the structure and principle of operation of a stand for measurements of influence of the lubrication method and process on functioning of journal slide bearings in their various technical states. Measurements performed on the stand make it possible to take advantage of the new method of evaluating the influence of physical and chemical properties of lubricating oil on the coefficient of friction in the mixed friction conditions. On the basis of the presented investigation results pertaining to journal slide bearings loaded with a constant-direction force during fast increasing and decreasing of loads within an assumed time interval, the Author has come to a conclusion that relation between physical and chemical properties of lubricating substance and properties of bearing metal can be determined by means of the operation indicator.

  • Investigation of polyurethane elastomer–steel joints using glass lacquer as an adhesive agent

2014 JOURNAL OF ELASTOMERS AND PLASTICS

This article describes an innovative method of coupling polyurethane elastomer (based on polyurethane glycolysate) with constructional steel, by implementation of a Glaspur®—glass lacquer containing latent polyurethanes and monosilane adhesion promoters. The commonly applied coupling agent is Cilbond® 45SF glue or its derivatives. Additionally, glycolysate was synthesised from polyurethane waste and 1,3-propylene glycol in 6:1 proportion. Results of examination confirm the usefulness of the above-mentioned glass lacquer for preparing laminar polyurethane–steel elements. Strength tests unequivocally present higher tear resistance of elements prepared with lacquer than couplings with Cilbond.

2014 Pełny tekst Zeszyty Naukowe Wydziału Elektrotechniki i Automatyki Politechniki Gdańskiej

One of the method of electronic device quality and reliability evaluation is observation of its inherent noise. The RTS phenomena usually indicates the presence of large defects in the structure of the material of the device, therefore it can be treated as an indicator of technology quality. In the paper authors present results of RTS investigations in reverse polarized Silicon Carbide Schottky diodes. Devices being studied are commercially available diodes with reverse voltage UR = 600 V. The RTS was observed during device stress by applying high voltage for several minutes and the change in signal parameters were studied.

  • Investigation of sweet substances of different molecular structure by potentiometric taste sensor with all solid state electrodes
    • Ewa Marjańska
    • Maria Szpakowska
    2014

A five channel potentiometric taste sensor consisting of an array of All Solid State Electrodes (ASSESs) with different lipid-polymer membranes has been developed. The electrodes are constructed of glassy carbon discs with electrochemically deposited poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT) acting as ion to electron transducer. The outer layer of the electrode is lipid-polymer membrane. Lipid substances immobilized in PVC membranes can be divided into cationic: 1 -benzyldimethyltetradecylammonium chloride, 2 -dodecyltrimethylammonium bromide and anionic: 3 -palmitic acid,4 - stearic acid, and 5 - phytol. It is already known that the sensor’s output exhibits similar patterns for acidic substances of ionic structure like hydrochloric, citric, acetic tartaric acids. It is well known that the type of sweetness varies with the substance in terms of its taste and aftertaste The sweet taste and aftertaste of intense sweeteners is very specific and usually easily recognized comparing to that of carbohydrates In this work the sensor’s responses to different sweet substances have been examined. The output patterns for monosaccharides (glucose and fructose), disaccharides (sucrose and lactose) as well as intense sweeteners of various molecular structures (acesulfame K, aspartame) have been studied. The relationship between the sensor’s response patterns and sweetness values of studied sweet substances has been investigated. The influence of the chemical structure of sweet substances on electrodes’ responses has also been discussed. The results of Principal Component Analysis (PCA) of the sensor’s responses have been presented in the context of its capability of discriminating the sweet flavour of the studied carbohydrates and intense sweeteners. In the long run this sensor is intended to be applied for discrimination of a vast number of commercially available soft drinks.

2014 Pełny tekst Journal of Physics : Conference Series

This paper presents a preliminary three dimensional analysis of the transient aerodynamic phenomena occurring in the innovative modification of classic Savonius wind turbine. An attempt to explain the increased efficiency of the innovative design in comparison with the traditional solution is undertaken. Several vorticity measures such as enstrophy, absolute helicity and the integral of the velocity gradient tensor second invariant are proposed in order to evaluate and compare designs. Discussed criteria are related to the vortex structures and energy dissipation. These structures are generated by the rotor and may affect the efficiency. There are also different vorticity measure taking advantage of eigenvalues of the velocity gradient tensor.
